running out of time

Still in southern Illinois tonight. It was a lot going back and forth with myself but I decided 24-28 hours of driving in just over two days to get to Maine was not the way to go, as I don’t actually enjoy suffering. And so far, Arkansas is looking really good. I was talking to someone else in the same uncertainty boat, and she said as vacations go, this wasn’t much fun. Feels more like a work trip, what with the stress. Hopefully Monday will make up for it. My options are narrowing – Maine is out of course, but I could still be in Carbondale, IL, or several spots on Arkansas, or, maybe, Poplar Bluff, MO. This process is very stressful for someone who hates gambling (and is bad at it) (me, that would be me).

Here’s hoping the forecast has a clear winner in the morning. Below are a couple of screenshots from the Astrospheric app, which are keeping said hopes alive.

  1. Hi there… looks like Missouri might be the best bet? Doubt I will witness any of it-other that darkness- here in Almond, Wisconsin. I’m excited for you and hoping that you are able to find the optimal solution to experience this phenomenon at its peak! I am living vicariously through your eyes! Thanks for sharing.
