Last full day today. Got up very early to drive many miles to walk about three miles and then drove for many more miles. I am currently about 15 miles east of Las Vegas and not enjoying the current temperature. Good thing this van has a fan. A few pictures of the slot canyons
Took a lot of pictures, but it would take days to do the Grand Canyon justice. Very smoky, there was a controlled burn in the area, but there are also multiple wildfires. Helicopters were doing fire suppression all day, flying over the canyon. Early day driving to Page AZ tomorrow so just a few pictures
Here’s a few pics of last night’s campground. Bluewater State Park, elevation of 7554 ft. Cold, but quiet and lovely. A bargain at $15. Saw Window Rock and Petrified Forest National Park today. Tonight’s camping was much easier than last night’s. Found a great little NM state campground well off the beaten path. I’m surprised I have halfway decent cell service. I’ll try for a few pictures in the morning. I’m running true to form for never getting in and settled before dark. And it is dark here.
Hobbs NM was a perfect spot for viewing. I got there right before first contact (a little after 9am) and there already was a small group of people in the public park I had chosen. Perfectly cloudless and not windy. Spirits were high and people were friendly. One person shared out their 12 pack of

Lot of driving today, but easy driving. Weather was good, traffic was ok, only hard part was constantly reapplying sunscreen. I know this is strange, since the main point of this trip depends on a clear, bright, sunny day, but I am not well adapted for sun. I was applying SPF 55 to my hands
