It’s day two of the trip and going fine so far. Yesterday was arrive at Denver, pick up the camper van (its name is Vincent Van Gogh!) and head north to Wyoming, land of Speed Limits Are For The Weak and passing is done with wild abandon, especially at night. I got to Devil’s Tower very late and did two hours of night photography. Wish I could have gotten in earlier; would have avoided a lot of driving around in the dark trying to figure out where to shoot from, because this is was the view in the morning from the campground.
Very hard to realize the gigantic rock is right there in the dark as it is very very dark in that corner of Wyoming. I think I got some good pics anyway, but I haven’t had time to look them all over yet.
I hiked around Devil’s Tower today for more than 5 miles. Between that and the 21 flights of stairs my phone thinks I did (trail was very up and down), and the extra 4200 feet in elevation, I’m feeling pretty good about today. Even if multiple septuagenarians passed me on the trail. Did not fall over from dehydration and Being Up Too High. Go me.
Forecast is looking iffy in a lot of places on Saturday so I’m heading south as fast as is reasonable until I get some clarity. Southern Colorado here I come.
More coming soon.
